Hi, I'm Hannah. I was born and raised in Washington, DC, and have lived and worked all over the country. Before practicing acupuncture, I spent ten years as a massage therapist, specializing in prenatal care, deep tissue, and myofascial release, with additional training and practice in Reiki and Core Synchronism.
I hold a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and completed training as a Natural Therapeutic Specialist at the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics. I studied Classical Chinese Medicine for two years at the Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine and earned my Master of Acupuncture from the Virginia University of Integrative Medicine. I now practice acupuncture with a focus on the Balance Method, a classical, channel-based approach known for its clarity and effectiveness, and I continue my studies under Dr. Sonia Tan.

My Story and Philosophy
In 2008 I began to experience debilitating menstrual pain each month. I sought care from my doctor but found no relief. My quest for a solution began, and included a deep dive into western herbal medicine, massage and energy work, and eventually acupuncture. I found powerful support from all of the modalities I tried, but it was acupuncture that went the deepest, guiding and encouraging the changes in my body that lead to my eventual recovery.
I became intensely curious about acupuncture, and passionate about helping others, so I decided to become a practitioner myself. I began my training at the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics, a massage therapy school with a strong integrative curriculum that allowed me to dip my toes into acupuncture education. I studied acupressure, myofascial release, deep tissue, prenatal massage, core synchronism, and polarity therapy. My training there was a wonderful introduction to the core concepts of acupuncture, and furthered my resolve to study it. I practiced as a massage therapist for 10 years, and concurrently studied acupuncture at both the Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine and the Virginia University of Integrative Medicine, where I earned my degree.
I feel so privileged to be able to offer acupuncture to you. It’s a powerful medicine that can facilitate real and lasting change in the body. That said, it is not always a quick and easy cure. Treatment is a commitment that can take time. Healing is often not a linear process. It can require lifestyle, relational, and environmental changes. It can feel hopeful and exciting at times, and frustrating at others. I’ve seen pain resolve, hot flashes ease, digestion regulate, but often the greatest change I see is a persons ability to replace fear, confusion, and despair with curiosity, patience, and resilience.
What I love to offer my patients is a partnership; I will give you my best with the acupuncture I can provide, I will listen and reflect with you, I will celebrate your wins and help you process your setbacks, I will give you my professional opinion about changes you might be considering or open to, and I will be honest with you about what I think we can accomplish together. I have intentionally chosen to focus my practice on the classical balance method, which is the most straightforward, and tangibly effective style of acupuncture I have experienced. I continue to offer massage in the context of fertility, reproductive health, and prenatal care, within an acupuncture treatment plan.
As someone who has experienced what it means to become free from chronic symptoms, I am deeply invested in your healing journey. I believe that a person who pursues this journey is a person who can more readily embody their gifts and show up more presently in their lives, and we sorely need more people to do just that.
